Mary Rosenblum
Website Editor
Dear Student,
This is an informal invitation to you to drop into the
Long Ridge website and get acquainted. I'm Mary Rosenblum, the
website editor, author of seven novels, more than fifty
published short stories in several genres, and several
nonfiction articles.
I'm also a longtime Long Ridge instructor. The happy
result is that as I build more and more features into the site,
I design them to help you with your writing.
Everything's FREE, of course. That's the beauty of it.
You can sign up to receive my email updates, Free
Writer's eNews, and you'll know instantly when something new and
interesting is happening on the site. (Isn't it refreshing to
know that you can actually get some information on the Web that
you really want!)
The Free Writer's eNews will also keep you
up-to-date on new articles that have been posted, as well as new
markets and helpful websites for you to check out. It's a great
way to make sure you don't miss something good.
Our goal is to
find the best ways to save your time for writing.
Check out the Calendar of Events page to see what the week
offers. That's where I post news of our next Professional
Connection--a real-time interview with a professional writer,
editor, or agent-in our Chat Room Auditorium.
You may meet your
favorite writer there! Ask questions and (for a change,
perhaps) be heard! Or just listen in.
You'll also find the times for the twice--weekly Live
Forums there-one during the day and one in the evening. I'm the
moderator there, too, and I invite you to drop in and ask
questions about query letters, getting an agent, submitting
work, making that dull character come to life, overcoming a bad
case of writer's block-whatever's on your mind. Any and all
questions are welcome, no matter what the topic of the day is.
And the Chat Rooms are great places to meet other writers,
because it's easy to get acquainted. Believe me, I was a
complete computer wimp when I started here. There's a great
how-to-chat article right on the Chat Room log-on page, and you
can read it or print it out to help you get started. I drop in
from time to time to see who's around, and there's usually a
quiet visiting session after every Auditorium event, so we may
meet.
As I mentioned before, be sure to browse our archive of
great articles. In Surviving & Thriving, you can find
everything from health information, tips for dealing with
stress, and advice on which receipts to save for taxes--to
reviews by website regulars of books they've read and loved (or
hated).
Read a good book lately? Write me a review, and send
it to me from the Web Editor page via email, and I'll post it!
(See, there's more than one way to get published!)
In Writing Craft, you'll find a wide selection of
informative articles on plotting and creating strong characters,
as well as transcripts of both the Live Forum and the
Professional Connection interviews. Look at it as an added
resource for a subject you might be wrestling with in your own
writing.
You'll also find the New Markets section where I post
new markets that haven't yet made it into the Best of the
Magazine Market directory. The articles in both these
sections are all written by professionals (including yours
truly), and they're well worth reading!
And don't forget me! Send your email from the Web Editor
page and your question or comment will come straight to me.
Drop on in! You'll find answers to your questions and a
lot of support from me and your fellow students on the site.
Come introduce yourself in the Post a Note! section, or say "Hi"
in person in one of the Live Forums. I'm always delighted to
meet new visitors! |
